Young People’s Empowerment Project (YPEP)

YPEP is currently funded by Big Lottery to work with young people aged 11 to 18 years from the Greater Shankill area. The aim of our project is to inform young people on a range of issues that they may face, so they have the correct and up-to-date information to make informed choices that are right for them. How do we do this?

Drop-In Facility

Teen-Time drop-in currently runs weekly on Thursday evenings in the Small Wonders II building. This group is very much young people led and any workshops that take place are asked for by the young people themselves.

Accredited / Non-Accredited Training

A range of training takes place over the year which includes OCN level 1 courses in Peer Education, Lifeskills, Drugs and Alcohol Awareness, Young Men and Violence and Community Relations. We also run GCSE Maths and English revision classes around exam time.

Work in local Secondary Schools

We deliver a number of our programmes to local secondary schools. Currently, some of the schools we are working with are Ashfield Boys High, Boys Model, Our Lady Of Mercy, Girls Model and Loughshore Educational Resource Centre.

Programmes We Facilitate

Within the Young People's Empowerment Project our staff deliver a number of programmes specifically designed for young people and issues affecting them.

Our programmes include Lifeskills, Holding On - Parenting, Pregnancy, Self Image & Identy, baby? - Think It Over, Fatherhood and Stand Up Be A Man.
