Cross-Community Outreach Project

Small Wonders II will become a flagship for Peace & Reconciliation within West Belfast by encouraging and supporting people from both sides of the interface to become more integrated in an attempt to create more community mobility between the Shankill and Falls areas.

The main aims of the project are to become a lasting legacy by establishing a fully Shared Space offering equally accessible services to the Shankill and Falls communities as well as forming lasting links between individuals and organisations on both sides of the interface.

To promote regeneration in an area that has suffered the effects of physical dereliction as a consequence of the conflict and anti-social behaviour.

Marion Weir, Community Relations Outreach Worker has been working with a wide range of groups, organisations and individuals across the interface to develop links and partnerships.  These include ex-prisoners groups such as EPIC; Coiste; Tar Anall; Falls Community Council; Belfast Interface Project; Lower Shankill Community Association; Greater Shankill Alternatives; Upper Springfield Development Trust; West Kirk Take2 Group; Community Dialogue; Families Beyond Conflict as well as many other voluntary and statutory agencies.

Marion is currently putting together a cross-community advisory group to steer the community relations outreach project and help with the development of innovative interface projects.  This will include partnership working with the Good Relations Officer from Culturlann McAdam OFiaich and Arts Providers to develop creative arts based interface projects.
