Outreach Work

Outreach work

Throughout the year the education staff has been kept very busy facilitating 7 outreach groups in various centre’s within the community.  The course delivered was based on Personal Development that entailed e.g. Confidence Building, Assertiveness, Active Listening, Team Building and Culture.

As a result of this training some of these groups have now amalgamated and are continuing with accredited courses, others are still going strong and looking for the best course to suit their needs.  We were fortunate enough in being able to bring a Women Moving On Open College Network accredited course to one of the groups who went to Queens University to collect their certificate along with the women from this centre.

We were approached by a number of women from this centre who had just completed various courses and requested information on a counselling course.  The Belfast Institute For Further & Higher Education was providing a Certificate in Intermediate Counselling Skill and 15 women enroled for this course.  On completion of the course some of these women attended an interview and were awarded a place on an NVQ III in Counselling course that they are now effectively working towards.

All of our outreach groups were invited to our annual achievement day to join the women of the centre to celebrate everyone’s achievements and get to know each other.
