HEALTH PROJECT - SUMMER 2009

SUMMER 2009

HEALTH PROGRAMME UPDATE

This August Shankill Women’s Centre ran a very successful Health Programme.

We had a variety of Craft Workshops including:

The Women’s Centre also ran a 4 week pilot ‘Introduction to Fashion Design and Garment Construction’.

These classes were well attended and proved very popular.  All the women found they had skills unknown to them before.  Following on from the success of this pilot we hope to run another dressmaking programme in the near future.

To keep fit and active we had two lovely trips out visiting Bangor and Newcastle.  The weather was very kind and the sun shone and we all felt the better for the sea air and the sun on our faces.

Keeping exercise in mind the Women’s Centre also hosted it’s first Pilates Workshop a great form of exercise and relaxation suited to all abilities and all ages.  We are now feeling well rested and relaxed ready to take on the new Autumn Winter Programme.

Many of the women who took part in the summer programme have commented on how grateful they were to have something to go to through the summer months especially as it has been such a long wet summer.

Shankill Women’s Centre have always tried to respond to the needs of the women who use the centre.
